I thought Gajab Raat was alright… a totally watchable 6/10, but it really could have been so much better.
The whole single-night crime plot setup actually grabbed me, but the movie keeps getting in its own way. For starters, Manoj Bajpayee’s fake accent was so annoying and distracting that it threw me right out of the story. When your main guy sounds that unnatural, it’s just tough to stay invested.
Then you’ve got these random moments of amateurish writing that completely break the mood right when things start getting good. It built up enough interesting tension that I thought we were heading for a killer climax, but then it just plays it totally safe and lands on a super predictable ending.
It’s a decent enough option if you just want something easy to stream, but it definitely had the bones to be something way bigger.
