Part Two does what Part One promised: it finally digs into the addiction. I found the jet-ski accident segment genuinely chilling… one prescription, and everything after it was damage control.
The recovery voices are the best thing here. Tim Harrington, the man Perry took in after an AA meeting, tells his story with a warmth I didn’t expect, and René Ashton doesn’t flinch about what loving an addict actually costs.
I also admired the Hitchens interview clip – Perry arguing addiction is a disease while visibly losing that exact fight. That’s the episode in one image.
But the middle sags. We get the romances, the failed movie career, the rehab-relapse loop, and the episode circles the same point: fame didn’t fix him. I got it the first time. The structure repeats itself, and the Netflix cliffhanger habit returns… again it ends on a teaser for worse news.
Interesting, honest, occasionally moving, still not more than that.
Another 6.5/10 from me: I finished it, I cared, but I won’t rewatch any of it.
