A Solid Lore Entry That Struggles to Soar
The Acolyte is my starting point for watching the entire Star Wars run in perfect chronological order.
As a fan of the High Republic Marvel comics, I was genuinely excited to see this era finally transition to live action. The series offers a decent entry point into the timeline, but it struggles to maintain the high standards set by other recent franchise hits.
While the middle of the season showed real promise with some standout action and the introduction of a menacing new villain, the momentum was often dragged down by slow pacing and repetitive flashbacks. The production values and writing never quite reached that extraordinary level I was hoping for, resulting in a show that feels watchable but ultimately safe.
It’s a solid effort for those interested in the lore, but despite the great potential of the setting, it’s a bit of a missed opportunity.
